Commontide
Proper 5

One of the oldest prayers in the Anglican rite, this collect for Proper 5 descends from a Latin oration in the Verona Sacramentary, a seventh-century manuscript preserving fifth- and sixth-century Roman liturgy. It reaches us through the Sarum Missal and Cranmer's first Prayer Book of 1549.
